There is only one machine which can work as a substitute of human brain. It is known as computer. Now a days computer is an essential part of modern life. It has brought about revolutionary changes in our life.
Charles Babez, a british professor of mathematics first designed the modern computer. His idea came unto practice in 1944. An American scientist professor Howard Aiken of Harvard University, invented the modern computer. The first electronic digital computer was completed in 1946.
In 1944 the only work of the computer was to count numbers quickly. It could do some mathematical terms such as plus, minus, multiplication and divissions. It was also used to solve other difficult problems of mathematics within short time. In a sentence we can say, in the early age of computer it was used to solve only mathematical problems.
At first computer was analogue computer. It was used to solve the mathematical problems within short time. Then came digital computer. It can do hundred of things more than analogue short time. Now- a- days computer is used every sphere of human life. It uses as a substitute of human brain. At present computer means digital computer.
Computer is a machine. It has no its own intelligence to work. It can work according to the directions. So we have to give some special direction to activate the computer. These are called progtammes. For any kinds of solution, first we need to send the question to the receiver part. Then the reciver part send the question into the preservation part where thousand of words and numbers are arranged. These are known as its memory. Then the central processing unit carryout the order and solute the problems. Then the result come out of the monitor. This is the way of working of a computer.
Now-a-days computer helps human being in various ways. It is most widely employed in data processing adn handling the vast paper work of industries, commerce and government jobs. Modern banking system also depend on it.
Computer also uses to keep trac of inventors, air lines reservation and railway movements. It checks income tax returns. It has brought new speed and accuracy to the weather forecast, space exploration, digging mine and so-on.
It has played a vital role in the defence system of a country. It also uses in agriculture sector. In a short we can say the successful solution of any problems of life come into the light by the grace of computer.
Computer is indeed a great wonder of modern age. It has great contribution of human life. It has curtailed human labour and saved it misuse. It is hoped that computer will be able to think and act independently we cannot think our modern life without computer.
